Maximus-Topaz
The Maximus-Topaz is the improved, higher efficiency version of the successful Maximus-Ruby miniature speaker model. The Maximus-Topaz allows audiophiles to enjoy the same stunning sound performance as the Maximus-Ruby while using a less costly, moderately- powered amplifier.
With a 3 dB improvement in system efficiency and higher impedance characteristic over the Ruby, the new Maximus-Topaz is able to produce significant SPL output and dynamics when driven by good quality mid-power amplifiers and/or the vacuum tube amplifiers.
A DM-4 Dreams module is mounted on front panel to cover the 900Hz-25KHz wide audio band with excellent dispersion characteristics. A 5.5¡± SX woofer eqipped with a newly designed, stronger motor providing a ¡À7.5mm of linear excursion has been assembled into a rein-forced miniature Compound Marble enclosure, allowing a system F3 response down to 48Hz!
Maximus-Topaz¡¯s dimensions are H 29.0cm (11.4¡°) xW 17.0cm (6.7¡±) xD 21.3cm (8.4¡°), exactly identical to the Maximus-Ruby; the rein-forced enclosure is solid and heavy, each weighting 8.6 Kg (19 lb). The nominal impedance is 4-6 ohms with average efficiency being 85.5 dB/2.83V/1m.
For proper operation, a mid-power amplifier with 30 to 60 watts per channel is recommended for driving the Maximus-Topaz.
